Food Migraine Triggers

Certain food can trigger your headaches. These are your food migraine triggers. By avoiding these foods, keeping a food diary, and documenting when headaches occur, you may be able to identify them. The following dietary items have been implicated in other migraine patients:

Alcohol

beer
champagne

Foods that contain nitrates:
Hotdogs
Bacon
Cured meats
Preserved fish

Foods that contain monosodium glutamate (MSG)
Chinese food
Prepared meats, poulty, fish, vegetables
Soups (especially dry-soup mixes)

Meat-based gravies
Dry roasted nuts
