Migraine Triggers
The list of things that are felt to be migraine triggers is very large, and is organized into categories below. You may already know about some of your own triggers (for example, certain foods or menstruation).
Triggers differ from person to person. Also, so called triggers don't necessarily lead to a migraine 100% of the time. These particular triggers may lead to a migraine, only in the presence of other triggers. This is what makes identifying triggers especially difficult.
Review the list below. Keep in mind that it is impossible to avoid all of these factors, but if you can identify a clear trigger, you should avoid it if possible.
Environmental
Physical strain or significant physical exertion
Head or neck injury
Weather changes
Bright light or glare
Odors (cigarette smoke, paint thinner, perfume, exhaust fumes)
Temperature (exposure to heat or cold)
Excessive motion
Excessive noise
Food
